Explore our turf varieties

There’s nothing quite like a natural turf that’s been cut and professionally installed in your yard. Skip the stress of grass seed germination (and the constant watering and after-care that comes with it), and enjoy a ready-made lawn from high-quality breeders offering leading turf products at a price that works for you.

Explore our turf varieties below:

Matilda Soft Leaf Buffalo

This type of roll on a lawn is soft to the touch and hypoallergenic. It is best used in warm climates and can handle both direct sunlight and shade very well. A semi-dwarf soft leaf buffalo, this grass has a moderate growth rate, so it requires very little maintenance (which means you enjoy more of your free time). Matilda Soft Leaf Buffalo also has the benefit of strong pest and disease resistance while also maintaining its colour year-round. In Sydney & Penrith, countless homeowners and businesses are now using this turf, so if you’re looking for a variety of turf that is soft, and can withstand Australia’s climate, then Matilda soft leaf buffalo is a good option for you.

Shademaster Soft Leaf Buffalo

This type of grass is very similar to the Matilda Soft Leaf Buffalo, but is not as soft and tends to turn purple in the winter. This turf is also very low maintenance and performs best in shady areas. If you have shady areas in your home, commercial or private properties, then this variety is ideal for you.

Kikuyu Turf

Kikuyu prefers complete sunlight and doesn’t perform well in shade. Kikuyu is great for both domestic and commercial use and is very common thanks to its low price. This variety grows quickly so it will need to be mowed more often, and it is great for high foot traffic areas. If you have high-traffic areas in your home, private or commercial property Kikuyu is the best option for you.

Wintergreen Couch Turf

Wintergreen Couch is incredibly low maintenance and is very dense, making it very soft to walk on. It can handle light shade while also remaining a luxurious green colour. If you are looking for a turf variety in Penrith or Sydney, that is low on maintenance but looks plushy all year round – then the wintergreen couch will tick all your boxes.

What variety of turf is right for me?

The right turf variety will come down to your needs, budget, and intended usage.

Different grasses behave differently in each climate and soil type. For example, are you looking for a more drought-resistant variety that won’t wilt during Penrith’s long, hot summers? Or are you interested in grass that will be predominantly in the shade?

The answer to these types of questions will help you find the “best” turf for you. As Penrith and Sydney’s leading turf supply specialists, we’re happy to help walk you through your options and compare products. When helping guide your choice, we consider:

• Your budget

• Your preferred look and feel

• Your preferred turf characteristics

Whether you are looking for a lawn that looks great, is hard-wearing, drought tolerant, or shade tolerant we will happily help you with your lawn selection.

Benefits of new roll-on turf

For most Sydney and Western Sydney home and business owners, the primary consideration of a new lawn will be the cost. In this regard, laying turf is more cost-effective per square metre than alternative options like synthetic turf, pavers, or sandstone. More than financial advantages, a ready-made lawn means no downtime, a more appealing yard (for yourself and potential buyers), and a range of eco-friendly benefits that mean your choice to invest in new turf is helping the planet.

✔️ Cost-effective

✔️ Natural air conditioning

✔️ Erosion and soil control

✔️ Improve property value

✔️ Drawcard for businesses

How much does new turf cost?

Roll on grass costs between $6.50 to $12 per m2. Keep in mind, this is for the turf itself only. When factoring in installation costs, you can expect to pay between $18 to $34 per m2.

You’ll also need to factor in your turf variety when establishing your budget. As an example, a 50 m2 area of basic Kikuyu can set you back $350 while the same size area of Matilda Soft Leaf Buffalo can be closer to $700.

Finally, consider the ongoing costs associated with your turf choice. A Kikuyu lawn will require weekly mowing during summer, whereas a Wintergreen Couch Turf requires mowing every two weeks. The cost of your maintenance tools, petrol, and of your time, can add up, so it’s a good idea to look at the bigger picture when setting your turf supply budget.
